Calvin Carnelius Cooley, born on September 26, 1936, to Lonnie Cooley and Annie (Berry) Cooley passed away on July 18, 2026, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 89.
Calvin was a hardworking and dedicated man who took great pride in providing for his family. He began his career as a welder in the shipyards of Pascagoula, Mississippi, before spending 35 years in transportation with Frito-Lay in Irving, Texas. His commitment to safety and excellence earned him the distinguished One Million Miles Safe Driving Award. He was also a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers. Those who knew Calvin will remember his spirited personality, kind heart, and generous nature. He was a special man who would truly give anyone the shirt off his back. His willingness to help others and the kindness he showed throughout his life will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Annie Cooley; his beloved wife, Shirley Cooley; his granddaughter, Elizabeth Shawntel Ballard; and eight brothers and sisters.
Calvin is survived by his daughters, Brenda Cooley of Rowlett, Texas, and Diane Grade of Wylie, Texas; his great-granddaughter, Kelsey Ragan of Wylie, Texas; his sister, Velma Owens of Beaumont, Mississippi; his brother, Don Cooley of Lucedale, Mississippi; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.
