Chris Lee Huls, age 70, passed away on May 28, 2026, in Kemp, Texas. He was born on March 25, 1956, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to James Edwin and Doris Jean (Harrison) Huls.
Chris married the love of his life, Jackie Lucille Smith Huls, on October 31, 2009, in Forney, Texas. A master electrician and contractor by trade, Chris took great pride in his work and often referred to himself as "The Master Electrician of the Universe." His quick wit, charm, and sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Family and work were the two things Chris valued most in life. He was dedicated to providing for those he loved and was always willing to lend a helping hand, share a laugh, or offer advice. His strong work ethic and larger-than-life personality will be remembered by family, friends, and colleagues alike.
Chris is survived by his wife, Jackie Huls; children, Brandon Huls and wife Kristi of Crossroads, Texas, Steven Huls and wife Beppy of Kansas City, Missouri, Ryan Huls and wife Stacy of Kaufman, Texas, James Mardis of Kemp, Texas, Eric Mardis and wife Amber of Forney, Texas, and Jenni Zuck and husband Robby of Temple, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Landon Huls of Fruitvale, Texas, James Huls of Hawaii, Rylee Vargas of Kaufman, Texas, Peirson Huls of Kaufman, Texas, Fallon Huls of Kaufman, Texas, Jonathan Mardis of Temple, Texas, Jayson Mardis of Crandall, Texas, John Mardis of Dallas, Texas, Harley Mardis of Waco, Texas, Matthew Mardis of Forney, Texas, Hayden Mardis of Forney, Texas, Eden Mardis of Forney, Texas, Cowen Mardis of Forney, Texas, Jenna Sheffield of Temple, Texas, and Jaydan Sheffield of Temple, Texas;12 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Susan Moon of Martinsville, Indiana and James Huls of Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Kirk Huls of Indiana; his parents, James Edwin and Doris Jean Huls; his grandchildren, Emmily Huls and Justin Mardis; and his grandparents.
Chris will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His humor, dedication to his family, and pride in his work created a legacy that will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind. The family will honor Chris’s life with a private service at a later date to be attended by immediate family members only. Per request of the family should you be felt to send the family cards, flowers, or gifts please have them sent to Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp, Texas.
