Curtis Gene Lanfear

June 4, 1962 — July 12, 2022

Curtis Gene Lanfear, age 60, was born June 4, 1962, in Fort Worth, TX. He died July 12, 2022, at a Dallas Medical Facility. He bravely fought a 6-month battle of medical issues resulting from complications of COVID.

Curtis attended Arlington schools and is a graduate of Bowie High School, Class of 1979.

At age 10, Curtis accepted Jesus as his Savior, was baptized, and remains a member of Tate Springs Baptist Church in Arlington, TX.

In 1995, Curtis bought a home in the Seven Points/Kemp area. He and Sandra Mason married on April 8, 2002. They shared a 22-year marriage.

Curtis was a retired truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, was a big fan of drag races, and a master chef of grilling, especially for friends and neighbors. No one ever left hungry! His hands were gifted with repairing broken items and making them new again. He was a good man, son, husband, dad, and brother, and husband. His work ethic excelled from his employers.

His greatest joy in life was his 29 year-old son, Hunter. They enjoyed a unique relationship. They had numerous adventures attending drag races and riding go-carts. They were best friends and hanging out together was awesome. In Hunter’s own words: “Dad always had time for me. He was my hero. The Best Dad E3ver, always putting my needs and wants first. I loved him and I know he loved me…so many wonderful memories.”

His second greatest joy was when Hunter and Courtney presented him with an adorable grand-daughter, Elena. Most people’s first impression of Curtis was of a big, tough, strong-will person, but Elena brought out all the gentle, tender qualities that were evident throughout his life.

Our last visit was upbeat. We shared our thoughts and goodbyes. Hunter held Elena close to her granddad while they exchanged a goodbye kiss and audibly, in a two-year old’s language, she said, “I love you...see you later!”

Curtis is survived by his spouse, Sandra Lanfear of Kemp, TX; son, Hunter Lanfear and spouse Courtney of Crowley, TX; grand-daughter, Elena Lanfear of Crowley, TX; brother, Larry Lanfear and spouse Mary of Arlington, TX; mother, Bobbie Jean Lanfear of Arlington, TX; and numerous other extended family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Curtis is preceded in death by his father, Bobby Gene Lanfear; brother, Keith Lanfear; and sister, Lisa Lanfear.
