Dean Heather

Dean Heather, a beloved employee in the Financial Administration office at UTSW - Dallas and an enthusiastic owner of racing thoroughbreds, has left behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and dedication. Born on December 2, 1964, in Dallas, Texas, Dean's warm and welcoming nature endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Throughout his 15-year career at UTSW - Dallas, Dean spent his working time in the Financial Administration office where he shared his enthusiasm for his work and dedication to “teamwork” to his fellow co-workers. Beyond the confines of the office, he found enjoyment in the company of members of the owners’ clubs of racing thoroughbreds. His love for horse racing was unending.

Dean's personality was illuminated by his kindness and great sense of humor. His laughter lit up rooms, and his compassionate spirit touched the lives of many. He had a particular love for fishing and sports where "players had a number on their backs," finding joy in the thrill of the game.

On Thursday, June 20, 2024, Dean passed away in Kemp, Texas. His departure has left a void in the hearts of his surviving family and friends. Dean is survived by his devoted spouse Tona; his daughter, Alicia Heather and her spouse Haley; his cherished granddaughter Charlee Heather; his loving parents Chuck Heather and Susan Heather; his fur babies Hank and Jackson; as well as his dear in-laws Wendell and Deedra Stafford, Steve Stafford, and Debbi and Dale Frapp. Numerous nieces and nephews mourn the loss of a remarkable individual whose light will continue to shine through those he touched.

Preceding him in death are his grandparents, Russel and Esther Heather, Joe Pate and Betty Pate, and his in-laws, Warren and Charlene Stafford.

Dean's passion for life extended beyond his professional achievements. He found excitement in playing Craps and Roulette at Las Vegas, embracing every moment with exuberance. His zest for living fully serves as an inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to share in his journey. As we bid farewell to Dean Heather, let us remember the laughter he brought into our lives, the wisdom he imparted upon us, and the love that will forever resonate in our hearts. May his legacy endure through the memories we hold dear, guiding us towards embracing life with open arms just as Dean did every day.
