George Welborn Hensley, a beloved member of the Scurry community, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, in Kaufman, Texas. Born on September 22, 1944, in Wylie, Texas, George lived a life rich in service, dedication, and love.
George devoted 32 years of his life to the Dallas Fire Department, proudly serving at Firehouse #25. His commitment to his profession and his fellow firefighters defined him, as he continually exemplified strength, courage, and a selfless spirit that touched the lives of everyone around him. His steadfast devotion to protecting the community left an indelible mark that will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his remarkable career as a firefighter, George also served his country with honor in the United States Army. His military service further illustrated his unwavering character and commitment to the values of duty and sacrifice. George wore the badge of a serviceman with pride, and those who knew him closely admired his sense of honor and respect for others.
As we celebrate George's life, we extend an invitation to all whose lives he impacted. A visitation will be held at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp, Texas, on December 6, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location, where we will come together in remembrance of George’s incredible journey, cherished memories, and the love he shared with all. The Dallas Firefighter's Honor Guard will present "The Last Bell" service.
Though George has departed, his legacy of bravery, compassion, and generosity will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him—and he will be profoundly missed.
