James Tyler “Ty” Farley passed away on December 18, 2025, in Tyler, Texas, at the age of 60. He was born on June 21, 1965, in Queens, New York.
Ty was known for his strong work ethic, honesty, sense of humor, and dedication to his family. Ty graduated from Skyline High School in Dallas, Texas, in 1984. He worked as a skilled craftsman specializing in hardwood flooring and bathroom remodeling before spending 20 years as a professional driver. He was proud of his career and received the Knight Transportation Million Mile Award for his safe driving and dedication.Ty was outgoing, funny, direct, and honest. He enjoyed joking with others and was never afraid to speak his mind.One favorite family memory involves Ty challenging his daughter Sarah to fill a coffee can with grasshoppers before they could go fishing. Just minutes later, Sarah returned with the can overflowing - proof that determination clearly ran in the family.Ty enjoyed music, especially old country and rock-and-roll, as well as fishing, poker nights, hunting, family gatherings, and grilling for his family. He took pride in being the grillmaster.Ty’s greatest pride was marrying Mary, raising his children, Alvin Jr. and Sarah and becoming a grandfather. He will be remembered for his hard work, sense of humor, and love for his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Michael Farley and Sherrilyn Hazel Boulware Farley and step son, Jeremy Gash.
Ty is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Mary Farley; his son, Alvin Farley Jr.; his daughter, Sarah (Farley) Quade, and her husband, Paden; and his grandchildren, GreyLynn, Bailey, and Jaxson. He is also survived by his brothers, Travis Farley and Steve Farley and many cousins, aunts, and uncles.
