Joe Jones, Sr., a beloved figure in his community, passed away on November 6 2024, in Tyler, Texas, at the age of 84. Born on December 21, 1939, in Perote, Alabama, to parents Elmo and Mary (Mason) Jones.

 Joe's life journey was marked by hard work, fellowship, and a passion for storytelling that endeared him to all who knew him. As a truck driver, Joe was not only skilled behind the wheel but also took pride in owning his own truck. His career spanned many years, working for JH Walker majority, he built lasting connections with countless individuals along his routes. Joe had an exceptional ability to remember everyone he met, often recalling interesting stories and experiences, which became cherished memories shared with friends and family alike. Joe was well known and loved in his community, where his friendly demeanor and infectious laughter brought joy to those around him. He had a rich array of interests; among them were fishing, playing poker, and rodeoing, pursuits that reflected his adventurous spirit and zest for life. 

He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mary Magdalene Jones Hollis; father, Elmo Jones; sister, Bobby Hollis; and brother, Robert Hollis Jr. Together, they shaped the man Joe became and provided a foundation of support and love that he cherished throughout his life.

 Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Cynthia Hughes, Karen D. Jones, Joe Jones Jr. (Spud), Lagatha Jones Butler, Joshua Jones, and Sean Jones; siblings, Thelma L. Persons, Naomi Galliban, Donita Hollis, Dora Tope, John Pitts (Boot), Larry Hollis, Ricky D. Hollis, Nathaniel Hollis, Robert James Hollis, Neal Hollis, and Clifford Manning; 12 grandkids, 9 great grandkids, 5 great-great grandkids.
