John Leon Lusk, age 87, was born to Sly Dewey Lusk and Mary Edna (Presley) Lusk on February 27, 1939, in Batesville, Arkansas. He passed away peacefully at his home in Kemp, Texas, on July 6, 2026.
John was a graduate of Southside High School in Batesville, Arkansas. On June 1, 1957, he married the love of his life, Myruel Lavern Lusk, known as Lavern, in Batesville. Together, they shared 69 years of marriage. On April 26, 1959, John was ordained as a deacon. He devoted his life to serving the Lord each day and was a faithful example to his family and those around him. John retired from Yellow Freight Trucking. He was known as the best mechanic ever and could fix anything. His hard work, knowledge, and willingness to lend a hand will be remembered by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sly Dewey Lusk and Mary Edna (Presley) Lusk; his siblings, James Perry Lusk, Dewey Leroy Lusk, Sarah Ann Lusk Matthews, Helen Lusk Cummings, Mildred Lusk Peel, and Clarence Lusk; and his son, Johnny Lusk
John is survived by his beloved wife, Myruel “Lavern” Lusk; daughters, Pamela Earnheart and Cynthia Hale and husband, Rod; grandchildren, Danny Lusk, Patricia Benitez, Shane Blankenship, Seth Blankenship, Sly Blankenship, Christopher Malone and wife, Madison, Cory Malone, Clayton Hale, and Christina Hill; great-grandchildren, HollyAnne Hill, Dakotah Hale, James Hale, Cooper Hill, Truitt Malone, Parker, and Tehilah Malone; as well as many other loving family members and friends.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
