M. Dan McCullough, age 77, passed away on May 28, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. He was born on January 19, 1948, in Dallas, Texas, to parents Vernon and Geri (Cobb) McCullough.
Dan spent an impressive 40 years working at Sears Roebuck & Co., where he was known for his dedication and reliability. He was a proud graduate of Crozier Tech High School in Dallas, Texas, and his commitment to service didn’t stop at his career; he also proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
A simple and quiet man, Dan always focused on his loved ones and his many interests. He was married to the love of his life, Larline, for 43 blessed years. Together, they found the perfect place in Kaufman and transformed it into a cherished family home. Dan took immense pride in building his barn and horse stalls, where he enjoyed spending time with his dogs and horses. He had a passion for the Dallas Stars and Dallas Cowboys and loved racing, hunting, and working on cars. He was never one to sit still; he always had a project on his mind, whether it was something big or small.
Dan was a devout member of First Baptist Church of Kaufman for many years and found a great sense of fulfillment working there part-time. He enjoyed working with the Handy Helpers and the Primetimers, and loved his Sunday school family and friends dearly.
Dan was a dedicated and loving husband and father, he will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate Dan’s life on June 3, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Kaufman, located at 2000 W. Fair St., Kaufman, Texas, 75142. Visitation is from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. The family invites everyone to a reception in the fellowship hall following the service.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Geri McCullough; and his daughter, Lisa Doss.
Dan is survived by his loving wife, Larline McCullough of Kaufman, Texas; son-in-law, Doug Doss of Kemp, Texas; daughter, Christi Smith and husband Steve of Wylie, Texas; son, Kevin Frier and wife Jennifer of Oglesby, Texas; son, Jeremy McCullough and wife Stephanie of Terrell, Texas; daughter, Leslie Turner and husband Brandon of Quinlan, Texas; sister, Verna Page of Grand Prairie, Texas; grandchildren, Colten Frier, Thomas Frier, Trey Doss, Samantha Frier, Dillon McCullough, Gracie McCullough, Asher McCullough; 5 great-grandsons and 5 great-granddaughters; and a host of extended family and church family.
