Shelba Jondell (King) Williams, a devoted homemaker and beloved matriarch, peacefully entered eternal rest on July 6, 2025, at the age of 89 in Kemp, Texas. Shelba was born on December 27, 1935, to Charles Shelby and Wilda Lee (Scarborough) King and her vibrant spirit made a profound impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
With a heart that overflowed with love, Shelba dedicated her life to serving God and raising her cherished family. A true prayer warrior, she spent countless hours lifting others up in prayer, sharing her unwavering faith with everyone she met. Her infectious laughter and warm demeanor knew no bounds, allowing her to connect deeply with friends and family alike. One of her proudest accomplishments was marrying her late husband, Robert LeRoy Williams, on September 4, 1953, in Long Beach, California. Their union was a cornerstone of her life, and their love continues to inspire those they left behind. Shelba found immense joy in playing games and having fun, often bringing her family together for evenings filled with laughter and love. Her passion for sports shone brightly in her life; she was both an enthusiastic collector and avid attendee of baseball games, always cherishing the moments spent with her grandchildren. Throughout her life, Shelba took immense pride in teaching children about Jesus. As a devoted leader, she instructed the Good News Club in her home and served as the director of AWANA Clubs at her church in Riverside, California. Her commitment to nurturing the faith of the next generation stands as a testament to her character and lifelong mission. At the remarkable age of 82, Shelba embarked on her first trip outside the country, visiting New Zealand — a testament to her adventurous spirit and willingness to embrace new experiences. Shortly after returning from New Zealand at the age of 83, Shelba made a change choosing to move from the city life in California to the country in Texas where she found tranquility and peace.
