Sherrilyn (“Sherry”) Hazel Farley, a loving wife and mother, passed away on September 26th, 2025, at the age of 84. Born in 1941 in Chicago, Sherry was raised in Bloomington, Illinois along with her nine siblings. She graduated from Bloomington High School in 1959. After graduation, she served four years in the US Navy as a Radioman (RM2). During her service, she was the model for the WWII US Women in Service memorial located in New Orleans, LA.
It was in the Navy that Sherry met her beloved husband, Al, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage filled with adventure and treasured memories. Together, they enjoyed many trips and experiences over the years, embodying a spirit of partnership and joy.
While raising her young family, Sherry earned a bachelor’s degree and a teaching certificate from the University of North Texas. She worked many years at the Texas Employment Commission and devoted herself as a homemaker and mother of three boys. In retirement, she found joy in her many friendships at the lake and Cedar Creek Country Club, playing golf and competitive dominoes, forging new friendships and many sweet memories. She and Al especially enjoyed hosting family gatherings.
Sherry was proceeded in death by her husband Alvin; her parents, Elmer & Wilma Boulware, and siblings, Gerald, Gary, Lynda and Dale Boulware. She is survived by her three sons James Tyler, Travis Brent, and John Steven Farley; their wives; grandchildren Alvin, Jackson, Sarah, Aaron, and Grant, and two great-grandchildren, Jaxson and GrayLynn; and her siblings, Nancy Grusy, Jeannie Murphy, Jim, Johnny and Kirk Boulware. Her dedication to family, country, community leaves an enduring legacy.
There will be a Celebration of Life reception at Sherry’s residence.
