Steve Bednar

Stephen Anthony Bednar, age 64, passed away peacefully at home on August 17, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was a beloved husband, father, Paw paw, brother, friend, and a truly down-to-earth man with a kind heart. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his willingness to help others, and the love he had for his family and friends.

Steve is survived by his wife of 46 years, LaGina Bednar of Kaufman; his four children: son, Anthony Bednar of Kaufman; daughters, Leslie Snyder and husband Jerot Snyder of Malakoff, Gena Thomas and husband Dustin Thomas of Kaufman, Angela Bowyer and husband John Bowyer of Broomfield, Colorado; and his five beloved grandchildren: Gavin (Scarlet), Abigail, Adelin, Hunter, and Lydia.

Steve is also survived by his siblings: Paul Bednar, Mary Hendricks, John Bednar, William Bednar, Teresa Shields, and Judy Bednar as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Steve spent many years working as a welder and was never afraid of hard work. He spent many years raising his grandchildren, working on vehicles, baling hay, and taking on whatever job needed to be done. He had a good heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved spending time with his family and friends, playing dominoes, and trying his hardest to win on a scratch-off ticket. He was a wonderful Pawpaw who loved his grandchildren dearly and took great joy in the time he spent with them. His kind heart, sense of humor, and love for those around him created countless memories that will forever be cherished.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents: Harry Bednar and Mary Duyka Bednar of Kaufman; sister Ann Brosch; brothers, Robert Bednar and Anthony Bednar.
