Terry Lynn Hamby

Terry Lynn Hamby, age 78, passed away on August 27, 2025, in Athens, Texas. She was born on September 15, 1946, in Wilmington, Delaware to parents John and Vivian (Painter) Kastle.

Always outgoing, spunky, very loyal to her friends and family, Terry was a fun, energetic person to be around. She loved to travel and visited multiple countries including Japan and Taiwan, while studying abroad. Terry loved to cook, fish, garden, grow flowers, read, play bingo and enjoyed feeding birds with her friends. She worked as a restaurant cook for many years and received a top chef award from the General Denver in Wilmington, Ohio.

Terry was proud of being a beauty queen who accomplished a new life for herself and was always present for her children. She loved taking her grandchildren on walks after school and she always enjoyed trying to catch the biggest fish. Her very close friends, Shera and Debbie, spent countless hours with her contemplating each year’s garden design at their living facility. Terry also loved her yearly visits from her niece Patty Whiting and her husband Kevin.

Terry was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and she will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Terry is preceded in death by her parents, John and Vivian Kastle; daughter, Tonya Kimberlin; grandson, Levi Hamby; brother, Jimmy Kastle; and sister-in-law, Brenda Wisecup.

Terry is survived by her daughter, Shannon Weems and husband James of Eustace, Texas; son, Billy Hamby and wife Casie of Wilmington, Ohio; granddaughter, Chellsea Burke and husband Ronald of Idabel, Oklahoma; grandson, Norman Lee Kimberlin of Wilmington, Ohio; granddaughter, Tiffany Finley and husband Austin of Sabina, Ohio; grandson, Jeremy Kimberlin and wife Chloe of Wilmington, Ohio; sister, Heather Mize and husband Mike of New Jersey; sister, Jinx Kastle; brother, John (Roby) Kastle and wife Linda of Maryland; sister-in-law, Connie Hamby of Milford, Ohio; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and Elvin and Jeannie Shelton, lifelong friends of Wilmington, Ohio.
